As the title says, I’m about to reveal 2 truths about me. One may be pretty obvious; the other may surprise you (or not).
Truth 1: I LOVE photographing people! It is so much fun to work with different personalities to create photos that express who they are. The variables are almost limitless...different places or venues, weather challenges, light (or lack of it), a range of ages and backgrounds. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. The possibilities are endless; I relish every opportunity to photograph people.
Truth 2: I totally enjoy my alone time. I think it’s a necessity for many to spend some time alone; it certainly is for me. In a world that is noisy and loud, the peace of time by myself is rejuvenating. This doesn’t always mean hiding away in my little house like a hermit; it often happens when I’m out in public. I find a quiet spot to sit, have a coffee, watch people go by. Sometimes I write, plan my next moves, or read. There’s a clarity of mind that comes with being on my own, letting my thoughts just roam where they will. And of course sometimes I am holed up in my home, no music playing or TV on, just sitting in the quiet listening to my own rhythm. Once in a while I’ll go sit in a park, or even at a quiet spot at the Calgary Zoo, and again just let my thoughts roam. All of these ways of being on my own help me rediscover myself, my why’s and how’s.
Are you surprised that these two ‘people’ reside in this one body? Are you like this too? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
